I have been with EY International Tax and Transaction Services – Transfer Pricing team since February 2016, which includes a two-year secondment at Ernst & Young's Taipei office in Taiwan. I possess diverse experience in global transfer pricing documentation and advance pricing agreement applications for companies across a wide range of industries, including consumer products, IT, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, medical devices, semiconductors, and the automotive sector. During my secondment at EY Taiwan, I was involved in bilateral advance pricing arrangements, transfer pricing advisory, due diligence, and international tax-related projects (e.g., Permanent Establishment advisory, restructuring proposals), as well as individual tax projects.

I'd say 'learning by doing' is important. While the basic knowledge gleaned from theory or academic papers is essential, figuring out how to apply it to actual projects or client advisories is much more interesting.

In my opinion, to provide advisory services to clients effectively, I believe several things are crucial. First and foremost is understanding the client's needs and goals to provide tailored, actionable advice. A thorough understanding of their industry is also paramount to deliver specialized insights. Clear and efficient communication is essential to ensure smooth collaboration. Above all, delivering high-quality, thoughtful, and professionally prepared reports/memos is vital in demonstrating our expertise and commitment to their success, which helps building trust and long-lasting relationships.
